I love love love to read. It’s one of my favorite things to do. However, due to everything that’s been going on in my life lately (Photography, work, more photography), I haven’t had as much time to read as I used to. I own a ton of books and currently have 8 books sitting on my bedside table waiting to be read (I wish I had more hours in my day!). I’ve been making an effort to starting reading a bit more (especially since I’m on a book buying ban until I read all the books on my bedside table -I will however accept GIFT BOOKS lol ) and so I thought I’d do a mini review of the two books I’m reading right now – “There’s a business in every woman” by Ann Holmes and “My father’s daughter” by Hannah Pool.
Book 1: I got this book as a Christmas present from my friend Chaka (love ya!). I have a few business ideas that I’ve been wanting to pursue and was looking for a book where I could read about the experiences of successful female entrepreneurs, how they started, mistakes they made and just learn the overall nitty gritty of starting a woman owned business. I must say, that so far this book has delivered, though at times it gets a bit too detailed, it does break down the really important things you need to know about starting your own business as a female : ). It covers everything from writing the business plan to sticking to it to dealing with employees to advertising and marketing. It also has information on useful small business resources and a bunch of success stories from various well known and not so well known women. In my personal opinion, this is a great book!
Book 2: The other book I’m reading, My father’s daughter, was given to me by another other dear friend, Vickii, over 6 months ago! And I’ve just finally settled down to read it. It’s a really light read about a heavy topic – adoption and her journey to finding her true identity. It starts off really fast paced giving you all the details of her life and how she got to where she is but it’s not overwhelming detail like some other biographies. I’m at the part where she’s about to meet her real family for the first time and so far it’s been a good book, I am however curious to see how this book will end.
And there you have it – My two mini book reviews!
Enjoy!
P.s. Check out my new lookbook here : )
