Any good book recommendations from anyone?

Last year I challenged myself both personally and work wise which helped me stay motivated throughout the year (although not without some blah moments) and now looking back at 2011 and seeing what I was able to accomplish I’m excited about what 2012 will bring. I’ve set my goals and I’m so ready to take them on now.

I’m grateful to God for so much – family, friends, work, life, health – If I were to make a list it would be miles long.

Here’s wishing all of you a prosperous 2012!

These pretty little cupcakes were made just for me by one of my best friends Vickii while I was in London.
Did I mention she’s the best baker in the whole world?

These are my new super bright yellow rain boots – aren’t they pretty?! :) I haven’t had rain boots since I was a little girl. I’ve seen them on people over the years and always admired the pretty designs people wore but I’ve never needed them until last week when I found myself wading ankle deep in a rain puddle that I didn’t see, in a pair of shoes that had no business whatsoever near water! After much deliberation with my friend Dimplez on what color to purchase (she wanted me to get yellow or red ones), I decided I would order a pair of black glossy boots online (at an annoying price tag) but then a few hours later I saw these bright yellow babies staring at me from an ESPRIT window and I had to take a closer look…they were on sale…and for $29.99! Of course I had to get them! so if you see me pounding puddles around NYC in my bright yellow wellies (which I will be doing) make sure you say hello!

When I’m so overwhelmed, its also easy for me to forget to be grateful because there’s just so much going on and I’m moving at a million miles an hour but yesterday I stumbled across a journal I kept from 2005 to 2009 and I realized how far I’d come. I wrote about many things including how I wanted to start an educational support fund in my home town – it turns 5 this December. I wondered about who would possibly want to book me as their wedding photographer and what I would even call my photography business – Well, here I am shooting weddings, meeting the most amazing couples and making the most amazing friends. I wrote about wanting to accomplish so many things, may of which I already have…….you get my point right? Sometimes all it takes is giving yourself some time to simply reflect and see how far along you’ve come. Doing this will give you a good reminder of everything you need to be grateful for. So if you ever feel like I do, you should try it sometime. Personally, I am grateful for so much I can’t even begin to list it out.

While I still get overwhelmed, I’ve figured out what works for me – I take it all in stride. No sleepless nights. There’ll be tomorrow. Essentially, I do my best and leave the rest (till tomorrow that is lol). It also helps that I have a wonderful support system – my husband, my parents, my family and my friends aka my “inhouse fan club” that help to keep me motivated in all I do.

Anyway that’s me just thinking out loud. I hope it’s been helpful to somebody. And with that I leave you with a photo of beautiful Cynthia, who’s wedding I recently photographed. I’ll be back with more soon!

HOWEVER, I try never to forget to be grateful for what I have (really really important) and I’m looking forward to a few days off this summer to just chill out and relax and pretty much do nothing. But for the meantime, with all craziness around me, I will continue reminding myself to …….
